We recently assisted an interstate client with a highly specific brief: find a hinterland acreage with ocean views within 20 minutes of both the beach and an airport in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.
This was one of our most challenging briefs yet. After inspecting multiple properties, leveraging our extensive local network and expertise, we identified a stunning 50-acre property in North Tumbulgum that exceeded expectations. The property featured a grand Georgian-style homestead with breathtaking northeast-facing ocean views, a separate studio, and the historic “Cranney’s Dance Hall,” a World War II relic. The Dance Hall even came complete with an original 1970’s Land Rover, ready for restoration.
With over 30 groups viewing the property within just four days, the competition was fierce from local, interstate and international buyers. Understanding the urgency, we moved swiftly to work closely with the listing agent. Recognising the high demand, we immediately engaged in negotiations, presenting a compelling offer that met the seller’s expectations. Our prompt action and proactive communication allowed us to take the property off the market before the competition could escalate further. This success underscores the crucial advantage of having a dedicated local team that can navigate complex, competitive markets and deliver outstanding results.
Nick and Chris from Compass were absolutely incredible. Buying a property from afar, especially in an area we didn’t fully understand, was a daunting challenge. They made the entire process seamless and stress-free. Their local knowledge was invaluable, and they were always there for us—late nights, early mornings, whatever it took. I absolutely couldn’t have done it without them, and we’re so grateful for their unwavering support in helping us find our dream home, which will be part of the family for a very long time.
